GP Outreach Benefits Advisers

The GP Outreach Team provide support and advice to vulnerable people within GP surgeries, who find it difficult to access the Citizens Advice by normal means. This helps to ease the workload of GP’s and the pressure of patients who face day to day difficulties.

The GP Outreach Benefits Advisers work across specific GP surgeries in Warrington to provide specialist advice and support to people regarding benefits. This includes, Disability Benefits (Personal Independence Payment, Attendance Allowance), Universal Credit (including UC Migration, work capability assessments), State Pension and Pension Credit, Council Tax Support and Housing Benefit.  Advisers will complete a benefits check with all clients to ensure they are receiving their eligible benefits.  They will also help with challenging decisions by supporting clients to request mandatory reconsiderations and/or appeals.

The team can also provide help and signposting with other areas, such as, debt, employment, housing navigation, consumer rights, energy tariffs, energy savings, food and fuel vouchers to help ensure clients receive the best options for the help and advice they need.
